Trans swap / ecu?

New here, Hi. Have a 91 Camry and a trans-swap problem/query. Car has A140E as built, the only thing I can get local is an A140L. Will I need to swap the ecu to the non-electronic shift module? I don't know, but thought I'd ask you guys. I did a site search and found one example, but the reverse of my situation.

I'm not sure about the ECU.

However theres a seperate computer for the auto tranny (A140E).

Have you tried looking on car-parts.com for a A140E?

A140L swap to A140E

Sconix - where did you find the reverse of your situation?

I have a bad A140L in my '89 Camry and just purchased an A140E on ebay (by mistake). From what I've found it might be possible to swap the E for the L but not the other way around since I do not have a Norm/PWR button.

(anybody need a used A140E with a 45 day warranty?)

I had once researched the option of installing 140L in place of 140E.
For 1989 year model, the TP sensor, the engine ECU and the engine harness are needed to be swapped as well. In addition, you need to remove threaded plug in the upper radiator hose outlet and install overdrive relay temperature switch.
