Repairing Fuel Line
My Gen2 got a fairly major fuel leak early this week, so I had to drop the tank to fix it.
The problem is that I destroyed the fuel line coming from the fuel pump. The line was rotted, and twisted apart when I tried to remove that flexible hose from it. I ended up cutting the hose out, leaving two hard lines on either end.
I'm splicing in some 5/16" line (The Camry's fuel lines are a strange size?) with 45 degree flare fittings on either side, and into a SAE 30R9 fuel injection hose to replace the old hose. I've wrapped some cut rad hose around my connections to reduce the possibility of spraying gasoline in case they fail.
Is there any problem with doing this? Up to what PSI could I expect in this area of the fuel line? I don't want to have a fire back there, and have my tank become a flame thrower or anything.
