Question N. America vs Japan Camry

I have a 93 V6 LE (Japan built and just hit 200k and never had a problem with the car other than a bad wheel speed sensor this summer other than regular PM (timing belt, waterpump, brakes, etc).
Just curious if there was any difference quality wise between the cars built in Japan vs the ones built here in North America. I hear alot of people complaining about problems with the gen3 Camrys or am I just really lucky.
Lets hear some of your thoughts?

The only difference is the suspension. One has sealed struts and the other doesn't.

Cool

Nothing quality wise, the JDM 3vz-fe has more power in 94 & 95 Camries than the '92-'93 3vz-fe does. (Some people speculate, I say they riched the fuel curve and advanced the timing)

The 1mz-fe didn't become the worldwide camry engine until '98 Camries built in '97 as JDM Camries were stilling using the 3vz-fe in '94 and '95.

They also have no EGR system. I do believe however that the JDM struts are the same as US spec. There is no differance on any Gen3 as far as i know. JDM/US Spec Camry, Windom or ES 300. They all have the same servicable strut.

I don't know why people are hating the gen3 reliability... I've have had no problems on my '93 ES 300 and I drive mine as hard, if not harder than anyone else here. (for the 92-93 A/T v6's)

Woot that ES 300 is Lexus, and therefore assembled in Japan only so far!

no the 1mz came in all v6 camrys as of 94.if you are refering to the camrys thats vin starts with a J (made in Japan)that is what i have,94 with a 1mz-fe,and if you are talking about the real JDM gen 3 camry it is called a SCEPTER not CAMRY and is a right hand driver

Cool

Blah blah ok so the name is wrong, but the JDM Camry equivilent(happy) had the 3vz-fe from '92-'95.

BTW the Austrailian Camry used the 3vz-fe from '92 until '97. 1mz-fe wasn't introduced in some parts of the asian markets until the MCV36 chassie, and they STILL only have the 1mz-fe minus VVT in their(Aus.) Camry and Avalon models.

Shall I continue, or is that enough? Google it yourself and see. Be sure to omit anything from Toyota Nation 'cause the information google returns in TN is simply incorrect.

Cool

The only Lexus made outside of Japan is the RX330 and it's made in Canada, AND production began there only on September 26, 2003.

The Kentucky plant no more makes ES 300's than it does Windom's.
