please help me decide if i should get the car

My friend who just bought an Acura RSX and planning to sell the his 1996 Camry for 1500 with roughly 100k mile on it. I know its really cheap. Now here is the problem, when he step on the acceleration hard and let go. His car would just stall or die out. and then he has to turn it on and accelerate some more to get it running. It doesnt happen often but once in a while. If he drive normal there wont be any stalling or die down. I just want to know whats is wrong with it before i buy it. My other friends told me its the tranmission but i am not sure. i search on the forum and it only happpen to other people who has there car on idle or come to a stop.

Why don't you take it to a mechanic to check the car before buying it?

I can't take it to the mechanic because he return the plates. I am afraid i might get pull over by the cops.

you can just explain yourself if you get pulled over.. i'm sure they'll understand if you'r not driving all wild

is the check engine light on? does it run smoothly? how does it act when your driving?

fuel filter maybe. or throttle position sensor.

But for that price even spending 500 to fix i is a decent price
