What I did was get some Testors transparent Candy Apple Red model paint from Walmart. I took the tails off the car, masked off the lenses, and painted the amber part with really light coats of the spray paint. It came out ok, but someone else did it even better.
They heated up the seals on the tails, removed them from the rest of the assembly, and painted the INSIDES of the lenses. I don't know how to describe it exactly, 'cause I didn't do it. But from the pics I saw it looked very clean- OEM like, even. Painting the insides is difficult and time consuming- but if you have the patience, go for it. Just be careful.
