well...obviously youre gonna need the engine, and youre gonna have to find the 5 speed tranny for it would could be pretty hard to find...your best bet is a 1mzfe engine with a 5 speed...do a search on this forum..im not being too hard on you cus its your 3 post, but please, do a search theres tons of info out there...jus so you kno...i hope youre willing to pay the price to do this swap...youre prolly looking at around 3000-4000 bucks...youre gonna need new engine mounts and an entire front clip basically

I just found a 5 speed camry here in Belize that is parting out. Too bad I don't have the money to buy the tranny and engine to swap mine.

yeah, if you have a gen 2 then I know I have told people what they need at least 4 times. If you have a gen 3 or 4 then I know Zoni and ratko have told people a gazillion times. Anyway, it's been covered A LOT!

Someone should post the link to that one page documenting the gen 3 auto to manual conversion then lock this thread...

That is a crappy estimate. I think it'll be wayyyy more than that and a TON of time.
While you do this, you'll need another car.

a good faq can be found here...
http://shiftgate.mox.ca/viewtopic.php?t=63
you will have to register for the sgp forum to read it though. we have a bunch of other good info too.

yeah i did this same swap in a 94 camry. read this faq and if you have any more questions contact me on here or sgp forums with a PM or AIM me at zonicamry.

edit: thats a perfect estimate. exactly on the money. it will take 2 months for a noob to do it. it would take me 1 week to do it again. so if you are willing to come to CT and want me to do it, lemme know too
please now

its a 97 camry, i just got it, As far as the work goes, im a master mechanic, and a welder. sooo im not terribly worried about that part of it. i just need a parts list and any major mods that need to be done. i could just rip the car appart, but i would like to have it off the raod the shortest time possible, since the only other vehicle i have is a motercycle, and its been raining here alot, hurricanes and all.lol.

erbe- i was under the impresion thet the 1mzfe was the only enine that came in a manual trans, for the camry, does the i4, and would it be eiser to find a manual trans for the i4?

umm...no not really...the engine and tranny at the mot would cost 2000 dollars...if he installed it himself he wouldnt have to pay for the install

no...i believe the 3vzfe came with a manual tranny, but it was very rare...the i4 def came with manuals...they will prolly be easier to find...what some people are doing, and what i plan on doing, is using the block of a 5sfe and the heads of the 3sgte and combine them to make a 5sgte...i kno ufoz is doing it cus i talked to him the other day about it...but please man...all this info can be found by search

97+ US made 1MZ-FE(V6) LE and CE trims have a manual available. The transmission code is E153. You will need to change the hubs, brakes (v6 are rear disc and bigger front disc, your preference I suppose you could leave it), axles, tranny, motor, mounts, subframe??, ECU, shift cables, shifter, shift boot. I'd second 2wickedtoyz advice, just find a front clip, I know it would have saved me a headache and a half.

if you want rear discs get them from a wagon or a es300 they are bigger than the ones on a camry

swear to god, click on my damn link, and there is a full parts list for 1mz + manual swap. AND for 3sgte + manual swap.

stop fuckin around and do it.

i did this swap, i4 to v6 swap this this swap. thats it fellas... nobody knows more than us.

if you can find a front clip of a camry, go ahead and get it. or if you can find a camry with these specs with rear damage, get the whole car and use all the parts you need.
