2mz-Fe V6...Cam and Crank Seals...BAD

its official, Jason at JP Imports in Dallas says that the cam and crank seals are bad on my 1990 2.5L 2vz-Fe V6...ok, i can live with that. for what it will cost to repair, i can probably come right up to the value of the car...im still ahead considering what i paid.

and if i am not, ill consider it a lesson learned. .


however...the thing is, im totally broke. i have no way to pay him at the moment. is it ok for me to drive with these bad seals, providing im putting the oil in it that it needs?? i do check it every day, before i leave for work and then before i leave work to come home...adding if nessecary.

thougts?? facts??? opinions??

i have driven cars with bad seals before for quite some time...they never had issues, but i dont know much about toy's...please help.

ya should be fine aslong as it isnt leaking anywhere like on to your belts or anything that could cause it to catch fire you should be fine

haha, its behind the belts, and all over the entire block! ( i believe it was you that originally told me to look there!, thanks!!)

its not on the belts, but it is leaking rapidly...about a half a cup to a cup a day... (i actually put a pan under it to catch it and then measured it...)

the PCV valve clogging was possibly the original cause of the issue. it clogged up and the previous owner never bothered to change it.


would a clogged PCV cause it to fail an emissions test?? i would think it would. if so, then the PCV isnt the problem, cause it passed with flying colors...
