hi folks. lemme apologize for this long post, i have a lot of questions cuz i don't really know much about the camry family....anyway. as you can see i'm not a camry owner, but my mother has a 2001 V6 LE that i drive occasionally when i'm home from college. it's a pretty quick car but it seems to me that it kinda falls on its face in the upper RPM range. i mentioned this to my friend who owns a 97 V6 camry, which as i understand is the first year of that body style (which generation is it?). he believes he can run my intrepid, but i'm pretty sure the outcome wouldn't be in his favor. what does a stock 97 camry V6 run in the 1/4? i know for a fact that this car is bone, bone stock. also...are there any HP differences between the 3.0 V6 in the model years that i mentioned? cuz if i'm not mistaken the sticker on the 2001 said 190hp but i'm not certain for sure. here's another q...how heavy are camries? my mom's car is noticeably lighter-feeling than my car but my car is also a scale-tipping 3500lbs. it handles pretty well but i prefer the handling of the intrepid in the corners (they really are great handling cars...wide stance and good tires do wonders).

ok i THINK that's all the prelim questions i have about performance. one other quickie about the camry. when you fill it up with gas and turn the motor on the gauge only indicates 3/4 of a tank. it's done this since we drove off the dealer's lot. however as you get to about 20 miles on the odo, it slowly creeps up to full and then drains normally. it's no big deal...just annoying. anyone ever heard of this before?

will be interested to see some replies - thanks in advance!
