where is the ecu

does anyone know where the ecu is for a 1998 camry ce (mt) im trying to find it to install a rsm

theyre no wiring diagrams for a camry either so i dunno what to do .... id rather install it myself to save money...

so if anyone could help out with ecu locaiton, or rsm experience on cutting ecu wires post it PLEEEEAASE ! thnx

Based on my Haynes manual, the ECU (a.k.a. ECM, PCM, etc.) there are two possible placements, based on your engine type:

I4 - "... mounted to the right side of the glove box, behind the cowl side trim."

V6 - "... mounted closer to the center console."

In both cases, removal of the under cover, glove box, cowl side trim (which I think is the kick plate), and possibly the inside door trim. PM me if you want me to scan the manual for more detail.
