Welcome

Sorry, I don't really have an answer to your problem.

I was gonna ask you if O/D (over-drive) is off? Regardless, 4000rpm is still too high! Is the car displaying any other wierd symptoms? Is it shifts through all of the gears okay? If you're already at 4K/rpm @ 75mph what happens when you accelerate?

You might wanna have it checked out by the dealer. Your fuel consumption must be really crappy!

Yea definitely get that checked... it should be reving at about 2700 RPM or so...

I have the 4 Cyl 96 Camry, It revs at about 2900 RPM at 75 MPH. I do ridiculous amounts of highway driving, cause it goes with my job.

welcome from one 97 V6 to another!

your rpm sounds a bit high, even if your mileage doesn't reflect. the numbers tossed out are about right. i hit 3k at ~80.

I think it usually happens when your engine is cold. Happens to me when my car has been resting and I take it on high speed straight away. On highway i'm at 4000rpm at even 120-130km/hr.

After few mins its fine! You should get your car checked.
