Im replacing my struts. Are the dust boots necessary? My current ones are useless seeing as they are all ripped.
Also where is the chepest place to get them. The dealership wants $140 for these 4 pieces of rubber.

The dust boots protect the shaft on the struts. It also keeps the shaft from getting dirty.

I know that with my Tokico's the dust boots have to be installed. If you don't install them and the struts blow out they won't warranty them.

KYB sells strut boots for the Camry, part # SB101. Summitracing.com carries them, just search under "manufacturer's part #", select "KYB", and then type in "SB101"...

Hope that helps...

hey all one question i wanna know about struts....

i got a 1.5 inch drop from sum pedders springs on stock struts... not only is this drop not enuf... but the suspension is really bouncy.

So ino if i get new struts the ride will firm up alot... but i also wanna know if i can get struts that lower the ride height even more? im thinkin like 2 inches mo' in the front and 1 inch at the rear

This is what happens when you have lowering springs and stock struts.

I suggest that you replace the stock struts with some performance ones like KYB, Tokico, Koni, etc..

Struts don't lower the ride height, springs do.

The dampening is adjustable.

I belive the Koni yellows are adjustable on the rebound stroke, while the reds are adjustable on the rebound and compression stroke.

Mines the other way around. The front is lower then the rear, but thats the way the Intrax springs are for the 2nd gen's.

The rear on my car didn't get lowered all that much so I chopped off a coil off the back springs.

Before you guys give me sh*t about cutting springs, I cut off a dead coil.

Heres my setup: 16x7 Rota/Konig Cobras (+35mm offset), 205/45-16 Nitto NT-505's, Intrax springs w/coil cut off the back, and Tokico struts (cartridges).

With this setup I have a 2 finger gap in the front and a tad over 2 fingers in the back.
