Guys,
Please enlighten me with your wisdoms...
I know that IS300 V6 engine has higher HP ratings than Camry/Solara V6 engines. Are they different engines? If not what are the difference?
Thanks
Jay

No, you're right, the IS300 has the 2JZ-GE (and i think the japanese Altezzas have the 3s-ge, can someone confirm that?) inline six making 215whp, it shares the engine with the non-turbo JZA80 supra, the sc300, and the gs300...

The IS300 has an inline-6, the 2JZ-GE, different from the Camry's 1MZ-FE. It's same engine as the one in the GS300 and the last-gen NA Supra.

EDIT: camry93 got to it before me. =) Yes, the IS200/Altezza has the 3S-GE.

the ES300 shares the same 1MZ-FE V6 engine as the Camry, Solara and Avalon....

Correct, ES300 has the same 1MZFE engine, a V6. The IS300 engine is an I6, with VVTI-L (not on the Camry or Solara, only on the ES300 and Sienna). The GE head on the I6 also contributes to the power numbers.

The J-spec Alteeza does use the 3SGE engine, which, to my knowledge, was never introduced in North America. It has a very impressive displacement-to-horsepower ratio. I believe the current gen 3SGE tuned by Beams makes 200hp on 2.0L displacement, natually aspirated, with the help of VVTL-I.

I think you mean "VVT-i" if i remember correctly, only the GT-S Celica/XRS Matrix/Vibe GT have "VVTL-i"...

Not to be nitpicky, but it's Altezza, not Alteeza  It's usually ricers that call them Alteezas, cuz they talk about getting "Alteeza" lights for their cars all day long
