i think i've posted before about my windows fogging up badly... i have a 93 le. my ac does not work. i've tried all the suggestions people have told me. i've cleaned the windows, i've tried spraying disinfectant spray stuff in the vents.. it's still fogging up REAL badly.... i also have air coming from the outside. however, there is a problem with my exhaust (it's loud, gonna get it fixed in a week or so) as well as i can smell exhaust inside the car. not too sure if this will contribute to the fogginess. I also use both rear and front windshield defoggers. I switch between defogger + just blowing air every once in a while because it gets real stuffy inside the car if i don't.
Today, it was kind of warm and raining. and all windows/rear+front windshields and both side mirrors were fogged up. my windows were fogged up on both the inside and outside. it got to the point that i could not see a thing and had to just stop the car and wipe the windows for a while because i just couldn't see anything at all... my friend was with me today and he said he's never seen a car so fogged up before... in fact.. he just suggested i get a new car with all the small problems i have...
anyone have any more suggestions on what to do? could it be the exhaust causing the fogginess?
Perhaps you have the defroster switched on the car image w/ the C inside it. Switch it to the one w/ the air coming into the car. That is most likely the problem.
Perhaps you have a broken pipe or something and your exaust is leaking into your car. That is very bad!! Serious health risk.
The exaust is warm correct? And when it meets w/ cold windows = fog.
This theory sounds right but I do not know whether it is fact or fiction.
Keep your window open a bit (about an inch) and the blower on a fairly high setting. It should be set to the vents below your windshield, drawing air from outside, and on all the time. Having the heat on high will also help.
Moisture in the air (from air you exhale, usually) is what causes the the windows to fog up. Removing that moisture from the cabin reduces the chances of your windows fogging.
I'm not sure if those ideas would help in a really humid environment, though.
o. uh actuallie yea.. before my entire car fogged up to the point i couldn't drive.. i just opened all the windows.. after that.. it fogged up incredibly fast
having the heat on high? high as in blowing stronger or having the heat hotter? because it gets INCREDIBLY stuffy inside...

Depending on the antifreeze you use, you might be able to smell it. Also the coolant level in your car will drop after time. You might check your coolant if you havn't recently.

You need a constant air flow over the windshield in order to keep it clear. The more air and the warmer it is, the better.
You also need a place for the moisture to escape. Opening the windows helps a lot, but isn't really needed unless it's really bad.
What happened is probably this: Since it was raining and warm out, it was probably fairly humid outside, and more humid than your car's cabin. Opening the windows let that air come into the car, and reach your windshield, which was cold. This caused condensation on the cold windshield, and it fogged up. That's my best guess. Keeping the windshield warmed up will prevent that.
Your heater core could also be leaking, sending water into the car's interior.
o, if my heater core was leaking, would my carpet be wet? if it's supposed to get wet then i'm guessing it's not a leaking heater core...
it was kind of warm that day.. i was actuallie underground when it was REALLY bad... i'll check my coolant levels tomorrow morning.. last time i checked it seemed ok...
hm ok.. how about the windows? if i can't get air to blow on the windows would the only way to get rid of the fog be to wipe it?

Your carpet wouldn't neccesarily be wet. If there is only a pinhole the liquid would become vapor before it would have a chance to collect. Also if you have A/C there is a drain for condensation from the heater/evaporator box that any excess fluid would drain to under of the car.
