2VZFE Idle Adjustment

Is there anyway to adjust the idle speed on a 2VZFE V6 Camry??

Chilton's on 1983-1992 Camrys:

5S-FE, 2VZ-FE and 3VZ-FE Engines

Idle speed on these engines is controlled completely by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). Idle speed is not adjustable on these engines.

Not without doing some "trickery" what is it that you're wanting to change the idle speed for???

Jus because i like it when it idles at about 800. Seems to run better, and acceleration off the line is better. At 650 (where it is now), it feels a little low and as posted earlier, after a hot run, falls to low, to maybe 500 or so.

Can't u just tighten the screw on the throttle cable near the air intake under the hood?

Do you think that would work? If so..i'll jus do that. Basically all that will be doing is holding the accelerator down slightly..will that effect anything else..like starting the car or the choke? If i've got cruise control..where is the cable adjustment? Is it on the thottle body or cruise controller.

No the car starting is controlled by the ECU on a map seperate from the normal map set.

If you want to treat the symptom, without fixing the cause you can do what I described HERE
Pickup a small bit of performance also.

Toysrme - Won't that increase or decrease idle speed in P or N, but when you select a drive gear, it will drop back down?? Because I need a solution that will be effective in any gear.

Also- Where is the ECT Sensor located on the 2VZ??

I have no idea, read your wiring diagrham and look for ECT.

The ECT (engine coolant temp...correct?) is located next to the output neck for the upper radiator hose.
