Ok.... based on looking at an older issue of Super Street, the one with the gold Top Secret Supra (3S-GTE powered), I am looking at doing the near identical buildup of a 3S-GTE to put in Camilla (my Camry). I have a goal of 800hp to the wheels... I am SERIOUSLY considering doin this, but before I do, I need info about the plain-jane 3S swap into a Camry that has a 5SFE, 5spd. What all is involved with this (mounting concerns, boost levels, and most importantly, DOLLARS INVOLVED)? Ratko... HELP!

Dude, you do not know what you have just planned for yourself. 5s-fe tranny cannot hold 800hp at the wheels. I dont even think the e153 tranny will hold up to that abuse. The e153 tranny is only good for 500hp at the wheels. The axles on the other hand is a different story, they'll hold up to 1000hp at the crank. Thats why Lisa Kubo is using them. To get to that horsepower it would require you to get a big big turbo = T88 or bigger. You not only have to build the engine and tranny. You would also need to strenghten the chasis, suspension to handle that much horsepower. But, either way its a big claim your making. And I hope to see you finish your project because I'm barely in the quarter phase of mine ... I'm also planning on following the steps of the 8sec Celica in Florida 980hp at the wheels with a 5S-GTE with alot of NOS... But, either way good luck...

I'm not looking at doing a 5sfe buildup....I'm talking about a 3s-gte buildup. BTW, here's the specs of the Top Secret 3s-gte that was in the gold Supra: 3s-gte stroked to a 2.2L using Garage Fukui crank, pistons, rings, and rods
HKS high cam
Trust T88-34D turbo with Type C wastegate
Trust ProfecB-Spec boost controller
HKS F-Conv Pro-Twin I'J Engine mgmt.
Trust 3-layer FMIC
Trust 16-layer oil cooler
HKS Turbo Timer
2 Bosch fuel pumps
Top Secret Pro GT300SPL exhaust manifold
OS Triple Kai clutch system
I figure it's gonna be pricey to get it up to those numbers, but someday.... it will all be in stages.
I'm also planning on following the steps of the 8sec Celica in Florida 980hp at the wheels with a 5S-GTE with alot of NOS...
hey justin. is that celica a fwd or awd? oh and to the main person that started this thread, trust is greddy. actully greddy is trust. but same difference. call them to ask for those parts. but you know there was more to it than that right? they had certain specs for the engine.

I dont need the spec's on the 3S-GTE Powered Supra. I've read about that supra long time ago and its not even a 3S-GTE that in there. They're claiming its a 3S-GTE but its not. To a un-trained eye you wont notice the difference.
UM ?!?!?! I see you have not yet done your research ... 5S-FE short block = 3S-GTE short block they're the same and made from the same casting... Turst is basically using a 5S-FE crank ... I wouldnt buy or even let a turst product sit in my car, let alone install it on my Camry. I just dont like their quality. I preffer JUN's stroke kit myself.

why dont that celica run on the pro circuit? it would be whooping up on them so bad. isnt it still a 3/4 chassis or is it a tube frame? i cant remember but if i remember correct its 3/4 or even full chassis.

hmm how would that mod be for a cam the 5sgte i mean... instead of an engine swap thats the next cheapest thing... i think but not sure about the process on how to go about doing it... let me know more about this justin thnx...
need custom pistons, and rods at the very least. gotta bore the water jackets a lil bigger i think to match the head. need to use a stud or bolt kit for the 3sgte. on top of all that u need a custom fuel management system, i.e. stand alone management.

well, guys my first assumptions was wrong... Heres the deal on a 5S-GTE... basically, you just need to get 3s-gte pistons from JE because they are already 1mm overbored 87mm, you have the option of shot pee'ing the 5S-FE rods ( to shot pee is only $50 bucks a piece at http://www.elprotoypes.com) or get custom 5S-FE forge rods, now listen if you want more cooling use the 5S-FE head gasket( but you'll need a 1mm or 1.6mm headgasket thickness) or you want to stay with the stock cooling capability of the 3S-GTE use the 3S-GTE headgasket.
As for the engine management you can use the 3S-GTE stock ecu because everything is the same... Good luck...
