What are the benefit of installing a cold air intake. I know that it brings colder air into the engine but besides that what else does it do? 1998 4-cylinder camry. I do alot of traveling on dirt roads cause of mountain biking so would that effect it at all besides getting it dirty. Yes, I did a search already and didn't find the answer I needed.

Your filter will clean out any dirt fine. Smoother passage for the air + larger passage + less restriction = improvements. Intakes don't do anythng but bring air in to the engine. So I don't how they would do anything else.

I don't think a thread was really need for this... but you should have found all the answers you needed in your search. Everything I stated has been said before. There isn't much else to it.

just put a k&n air filter in your stock air box... enjoy the stock engine sound as long as you can!
