Question breather Question

I have a 98 toyota camry 1mz 6cyl. I was wondering is it bad for the motor to put one of them little breather filter on instead of connecting the hose to the intake tube.. and is it also bad for the motor having the breather filter on for the winter.

Or would it be much better for the motor if I just put the hose on the intake tube.

I heard that if I use the little breather filter it would be bad for the valve or something like that I don't know if that is true or not..

i dont see why it would be bad, it would also keep some of the crap from running back into your intake and dirtying it up

Don't quote me of this...but I believe its OK, but you MUST make sure there is adequate ventillation under pressure, else you'll be blowing gaskets and seals.

Put an oil catch can on it if you are worried about crap in the intake. I would worry about some of those cheap breather filters they sometimes fall apart.

Cool

Yeah you gotta replace the filters at some point. They saturate pretty bad. They also don't have any vacuum on them.

Better to use an oil catch can and still have it connected to the intake. That way you get pleanty of vacuum, and your camry doesn't smell. You just gotta remember to dump that crap out before it fills up.

Connecting to intake help remove blow-by gas from crank case and help keep oil clean. It also reduce acid in oil due to mixing with fuel and exhaust. You decide if it good or bad for the engine.
