What is the SE suspension REALLY?

I have a 03 SE v6 and was wondering what kind of struts and springs that I already have?

Is it different from the LE and XLE?

thanks for any information.

I think they are still macphersons but they are stiffer and give "sportier" suspension.

And yes, they are different from the Le and XLE.

SE = Sport model.

a little lower like 2cm slightly, stiffer ride, strut brace. i have never driven any lower model camrys so i don't know. i don't think its got a brand name or anything. probably just called sports suspension by sportivo.

i drive a camry sportivo its like the SE i think.

according to toyota.com:

MacPherson strut front suspension with gas-filled shock absorbers and stabilizer bar; dual-link independent MacPherson strut rear suspension with gas-filled shock absorbers and stabilizer bar (SE adds sport-tuned shock absorbers and springs, and strut tower brace)

also the SE comes with at least 16 in or 17 in wheels. (215/60/16 tires),(215/55/17 tires) respectively.

4 channel, 3 sensor ABS with EBD(electronic brake-force distribution) with 4 wheel discs. ventilated front rotors, solid rears. --> 4cyl gets drums in the rear...

also, i noticed the toyota website said that only the XLE comes standard with the ECT-i auto tranny... i would prefer the 5spd but interesting to note. i wonder how much extra the ECT-i trans costs???

I just replaced my springs with TRD's and didn't get the drop I anticipated. So I called the dealer and cross referenced the spring part numbers for the LE, XLE & SE. The SE carries a different number so it may be a little stiffer causing me to not get the rated drop by TRD. They probably rated it from a LE version.

So the springs are definately different. You could call the dealer and ask for part numbers to see if the struts are the same. Also the front and rear sway bars. And be sure to let us know what you find out.

Yes, Most cars come equiped with rear sway bars.

The difference is in their performance or stiffness. A performance sway bar is larger in diameter and uses stiffer, stronger steel. The difference in handling is night and day.

Stock Sway Bar = .676 in.

TRD Sway Bar = .761 in.
