Unhappy Potentially sad day

If everything goes right, I will be trading my '93 Cam (minus all parts and accessories I had put on it) for an '85 MB 300D turbo diesel. Originally I was selling my car, but a guy had one of these and the weird thing is I was looking to buy one of these since gas prices are soo high ($4+ USD) and they are expected to go even more higher here in Belize. I'm selling my car because too much seems to be going wrong with it and I have no money to fix them all plus even though I don't spend all that much on gas, for my budget it's still too much. However it's still not 100% since I haven't fully checked out the car and we haven't come to an agreement yet on terms other than my car is gonna be returned back to bone stock.

You say that your selling your 93 camry because the rapair bills are to high. I would think that your total of your repair bills would be even higher with an 85 mercedes than the 93 camry. then I again I dont know the condition or circumstance of either of the 2 cars. mY.02

the repair bills isn't the only problem, but also the parts needed. Plus there are many of those scrap MB's here so getting parts is soo easy which would turn out cheaper for me along with gas. With the MB I can burn half the money I do now in fuel and get about twice the miles I get with my Cam.

If you are getting that W123 (300D turbo) I suggest you look into this website so you know what to look for:

http://mercedes-w123.net/buyers_guide.htm

http://mbdieseldiy.tripod.com/dog.htm

And if you want to join our forum, http://www.mbnz.org/forums/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=10

How many miles does the 300D have? Check for leaks, rust and if the engine emits blue smoke when warmed up. If it does, walk away. Leaks and rust are a problem with these cars if neglected, but if this one is sealed and intact then you found a gem!

Anyway read the links I posted. And browse the forum site for added info. I have the same username there if you need to ask anything. Goodluck!

EDIT: The W123 is such a good DIY car you won't need much money to maintain it yourself. Oil changes, valve adjustment, diesel purge, etc... as long as you are comfortable under the hood you'll be fine.

^^I had changed my mind. I didn't think it was worht it. Now since I'm seriously thinking about selling my car, I saw a cressida for sale on some 16" chrome rims and i'm thinking about getting that. It's not the boxy type cressida, its the newer ones. Not sure what year it is.
