It depends on your state, in MA if you have an old style plate you only have a back one. But the new ones they give you 2 one for the front and one for the back, and the one on the back also has a registration sticker. If CA issues you two plates, its normally illegal to not have a front plate. I know that around here alot of ricer civics, that have huge body kits, get pulled over, and thats how cops first can pull over the ricers and then just give them a shit load of tickets, for lowering, lights, and if they are a real a-hole, even distrubing the peace (loud exhaust). So if you dont want to asking to get pulled over, just put the plate up front

You sure about that? I've seen thousands of cars without a license plate in front of their cars and the police does nothing about it. :| Stupid rich M-Benz owners with their Benz emblem plates in front.
It is the same law in CT, I went for 4 years without having my front plate on. Woke up one morning and read int he newspaper they fined 15 or so people in my town $110 the day before for not having it on....Needless to say, it went on later that afternoon.

Popo probably don't do anything because they don't care. You don't see them giving out tickets for jaywalking, do you? That's still illegal.
Unless the cop is a complete asshole, you shouldn't get pulled over for just the plate, but if you're speeding and they get you, they'll tack on another ticket for the missing plate.

your in ca? yes it is illegal, iv been pulled over "for not having it" no ticket though. but still it depends on the cop. if you dont have it on. then your gambling each time you go out. i takes my chances and leave it in my window (still illegal)
Yeah, when I lived in UT, I drove around for 3 years without a front plate, even though it was illegal. I got 9 speeding tickets in that Accord, but never one for no license plate. Now I live in VA and the dealer I bought the Cam at put one on the front when I went to pick it up, it's like a big zit on her nose.

i got caught once, i quickly (when slowing down to stop at side of highway) took the plate from under the passanger mat and displayed it on the front window..the officer asked for lic & registration (he kinda knew what i did..hehe). Didn't say nothing, no fix it ticket...nothing, it all depends on the officer!
