Miss-Shifting

chances of miss-shifting in a manual trans, is it higher with a stock shifter or with a short throw one ?

what the? lol

there are only 5 directions to move the gear stick dude. after you move the stick into neutral:

you want gear 1? then you push the stick to the top left.

you want gear 2 push it down left.

to get into gear 3 you push up.

gear 4? you pull down.

gear 5? you push to the top right.

simple...i tried teaching my friend to drive manual...i tell him the above points and he still goes from 1st to 4th...i tell him you gotta push the stick in the right direction.

the only manual car i drive is a toyota hiace van. and the transmission is stock and the gear stick is not that good but if i concentrate enough i can shift pretty fast.

What about Mister-Shifting? I don't know about you but I don't think you want throw Miss-Shifting anywhere if he's around.

Seriously though. The main point of a short shifter is for speed of shifting. However I would think it would be easier to mis-shift with a shorter throw because all your shift points are closer together.
