Are you sure you didn't just play around with the transmission kick-down cable too much when you were messing with it a week ago? Put it back more towards the middle if you don't like it shifting harder.

Usually when i move from P to R there is a big shack...after i muck around with the "Kick down cable" there is not much of a shack from P to R.
But just the 1 st to 2 rd jerks hard!!!
One more thing if i decided to change the Automatic Tranmission fluid...do i need to warm the fluid first b4 chaning?????
my gen 5 camry makes a cracking sort of noise when going from P to R. but that only happens when you park on a hill when the P is holding the car more than the handbrake.
it can be done by just simply stopping on a hill, keeping the foot brake on, moving the selector to P, pull the handbrake up and then let go of the foot brake. after you let the footbrake go the car will most of the time move slightly because the handbrake needs to 'catch' or something. also when the car moves slightly like that the P gear also gets some weight put on to it.
so when you return to your car to drive off, move from P to R you will hear some crack sound.
my mum does this heaps. she doesn't pull the handbrake up completely so most of the weight of the car is held by the P gear.
i park the car differently. i keep on the foot brake, pull the handbrake up, move the selector to N then let go of the foot brake. the handbrake will be holding the car, then i move the selector to P.
there is no crack sound when i change from P t o R.
when my car was in for repairs before we got a gen 2 to drive around. it had the jerk going from 1 to 2...daym...oh well
my gen3 does that too. a long time ago i read that a tranny fluid change may fix it (searchy) but its done it for 10 years, itll do it for another 10 years with no problems =)

I just change the A/T fluid, i can't get the Differential plug to open, so hard and it's not much room as well.
How important to change both at the same time???
I bet 99% of this board has never even checked the fluid level of their diff, even less change it. It's one of those "I'll get around to it" fluid changes.
As much as I harp about basic maint., especially fluid changes, it's not your most pressing issue.

When my Cam started jerking..I went for a full fluid flush, it cured it for about 100 miles. I thought it strange that it was about 100 miles after I bought the car.
Then the vibration started.
Fast forward >>
One replaced trannie later and many dollars poorer.
Danger, Danger!!!
Always check your tran fluid boys & girls.
