Well I am going this weekend to look at rims, since you guys know what a large investment they are just wanted some input. I am look between Motegi MR7's, enkei CDR9s or maybe Konig Tantrums.

I am just up in the air between 17'' and 18''. I am leaning towards the 18'' since Solara's have a large body and those size rims would fit it well (look great), but would have to go with at 225/40/18 tire. Wondering how much confort I would lose with that tire. Where as with at 17'' go with 215/45/17. with that 5% in the aspect ratio make a differnece ?

Also the other point is weight. How much accleration would I lose going with 18'' over 17'' ?? Will it mostly be accleration off the line I'll notice a loss in, or also when I punch it on the express way. Thanks for all input !!

Well, I must admit I think the Solaras are really made for 18s, but I was just too hesitant to always have that fear of hitting a pothole and ruining a rim. The key, IMO, is if you go with 17s to not go with a too low profile tire. I am running 215/50-17 yokos, and I think the larger size has helped offset the fact they are 17s. Plus, they are basically the suggested factory diameter, so that is good. 18s look awsome, but you can work w/ 17s. Not sure about the percentages of loss due to weight....I am sure someone will have some advice on that end. Good luck.

Yep....as most people say....there are always sacrifices. Guess you just need to balance practicality versus looks. Which one is more important in your opinion?
