Freaking thing weighs 28lbs. The sound is awesome even on my underpowered JL 300/2 amp. This sub really needs a JL 500/1.

Gimmie! Gimmie!

I am envious. Man those magnets are almost as massive as the W7s. Makes my W3s look like Road Gear subs :*( LOL. Definately tell me how it performs....b/c I ran a pair of 12 W6s (V1s) a year ago for 3 months and really disliked them compared to the W3s. I think most people who were doing SPL ran W3s, while the SQ competitors ran W6s. Anyways, would like to hear your thoughts after giving them a good testing

Yup, those things are heavy!!! But they are definitely sweet. Mao is "breaking in" the other one for me...

Without fine tuning the amp, the sub does sound very nicely. It is a DVC 4-ohm configurated at 2-ohm from the factory. Gonna have to wait until my 2-week hiatus road trip is over to try them.

I am glad to hear you are letting those things break in.....for those new to the audio game....don't pound them right off the bat too much (I know it's hard to resist)....but most say give a sub a week or so to open up. You will tell a difference in dynamics after a while. With some of the extremely power-hungry subs, SPL competitors will actually plug their subs into a wall socket to let those surrounds get a workout before they actually install them and let them rip. Just FYI.

Anyways, I am still envious. I hope they work out awsome. BTW, I think...no I know you need a bigger amp (for your sake and the subs' sake as well). Even the old W6s were much more power hungry than the W3s. Most audio guys said to not purchase the old W6s unless you were giving them at least 500 watts RMS each.

I am positive my 300/2 amp is underpowering the 12W6v2. Despite that, under normal listening volume the SQ is fantastic and it does pound quite a bit. Much better in SQ than the 12W6 I use to have.

I can not say if SPL is better than a W3 as I do not have the power to crank it up yet. I will keep everyone updated once I get a new amp. So far, I like it. The SQ is wonderful and almost no distortion.

Also the sub looks like a million bucks. This thing is really built to last. I love the diecast aluminum alloy frame JL is using on the W6v2s and on the W7s.

OK here is the scoop. JL does not recognize any online JL dealers. In addition authorized JL resellers are not allowed to deviate from the JL's MSRP. That's right, you will be paying MSRP because this sub just shipped last Friday.

I got lucky as I preordered my subs more than 6 months ago, even before they were released. Sorry but I am not allowed to reveal the price. This was a one time deal for me so even if I wanted more subs, I am SOL.

10" W6v2 - Suggested Retail Price: $379.95
12" W6v2 - Suggested Retail Price: $459.95

Definitley not cheap but more cost effective than the W7s.

Once the subs hit the internet there are always ways around that

I remember the 13w7 retail is like 900, it can be had for like 550 online, and the 12w7 can be had for a bit less at 450
