Well....if they are the duel 4ohm voice coil version....you might have the coils and speakers wired in parallel, which would present a 1ohm load, thus easily putting that MTX into protection load. If the coils are wired in series, and speakers in parallel, they would present a 4 ohm load, which is much easier on the amp, but the power draw will be much less.

Ok....I just looked up the stats on the amp:
RMS Power measured at 12.5 Volts DC:
-125 Watts x 1 into a 4Ohm load with less than 0.5% Thd+N
-250 Watts x 1 into a 2 Ohm load with less than 1% Thd+N
Dynamic Power (IHF-202 Standard) measured at 14.4 Volts DC
-200 Watts x 1 into a 4 Ohm load
-350 Watts x 1 into a 2 Ohm load

Lets say your electrical system is stock...so maybe pulling a 13-something volt level....so pushing out between 125 and 200 watts at any given time....basically that amp is underpowering those subs extremely bad. RMS for those subs are 250....thus lies the problem.

I know MTX says they underestimate the power of their amps....but that bit of difference is pritty major. General rule of law is that one should buy an amp that covers a sub's max wattages.

Well.....if you are going to make that upgrade....and you want to stick with MTX amps...I say Thunder81000D all the way. They are mean amps, but you are looking to pay 600.00 to 700.00 for it  But from what I have been told, they are awsome performers. If you are not looking to make that investment, I say stick with the subs you have and maybe move up to a Thunder6500D. I would say that would be sufficient. When it comes to caps....they are a quick fix. I run one and it helps with the dimming...but you do loose a small bit of power going to the amp due to the fact they cap is taking a draw to recharge. I say if you are really concerned about your power:
1) get a 1 farad cap
2) make sure you are using correct gauge power wires
3) increase your grounds from the battery to the body
4) drop in a deep-cycle battery like an optima

Well I know that was a lot....sorry I tend to be long-winded
