starter no start.... ignition faulty???

starter no start.... ignition faulty???

this morning came out and tried to start my 5sfe but starter doesnt do anything. i had to manually jump the starter wire to the batt to start.

my question:

maybe perhaps i blew a fuse?
is there a fuse for this?

Of course there is, several actually. There are a few safety switches too. Depends on what you're driving.

Well, first of all, did the starter turn over at all?

If so, could you hear it at least attemping to fire?

If the starter is working but it does not fire, your timing may be off. It may also be a damaged spark plug or any nymber of other causes.

You can also check the fuses. If it's a Gen3, there should be a little change holder on the driver side near the door. If you push in on both sides you can remove it and expose the fuse behind it.

If you had a metallic clink only, Possible start of bad starter.
If it was click..click..click.. battery ??

could you give more info on the "jumpered wire"??

if yall ever look at th starter, there are two wires goin to the starter. one(4 guage) is for the 12volt constant, the other(10 guage) is for switching (ignition key, +12v).

i jumped the 10guage wire to the batt and my car start.

my ignition does send any power to the 10 guage wire at thstarter.

thats why i ask is there were any fuse for it sicne i couldnt find it. some one mentioned the switch, could it be the neutral switch?

thanks

- Park/Neutral Position Switch (Car Will Only Start In Park Or Neutral)

Or

- Clutch Start Switch (Car Will Only Start With Clutch Pedal Pressed)

Maybe A Bad Switch? Or In Need Of Adjustment?

Hope This Helps,

Ed
