Switching from artificial to regular oil

I just purchased a used 2003 Camry that has 38,000 miles on it.
The original owner said he always used Wal Mart synthetic oil.
I've never felt the need to use a synthetic and put on 165 k on my last Toyota without any engine problems. What is the general opinion on synthetic oil versus regular oil and will I be asking for problems switching back to a regular oil in my 03 Camry?

synthetic oil is 10 times better then normal oil.... cleans engine, better mpg, i heard that with synthetic a block with tones of miles looks like it just came from the factory. but if you really dont want it, then just switch your car is still low miles. shouldent be a problem.

Synthetic is the greatest thing for cars since rubber tires!

Notice Toyota uses synthetics and have been reccomending oil changes @ 7500 miles for more than a decade now.


If you really want to know about oils, don't ask here. People are too opinionated and don't know anything. If you want to know more about oil visit Bob is the oil guy's forum and ask. They'll tell you straight up about oil.


My personal fav is the AMSoil test going on because several AMERICAN cars are over 50,000 miles with only fiter changes & top-off's from normal oil use. (That includes oil analysis to ensure good oil & nice engine wear)
