hey guys, what in ur opinion are the best 9006 or/and 9005 bulbs? I had plasmaglow 100w blue fake HIDs before and i LOVED them BUT they melted my wiring harness and the socket that holds the bulbs.....even the heavy duty ones, so I need something new hopefully wont melt anything
sylvania silverstar...just modded the 9005 to put into my 9006 socket. awesome and won't burn the harness

9005 European SilverStar's put in a 9006 hole. If you can find them that'll be around 50% more light than a typical halogen bulb.

I know what people say, but these bulbs are some of the brightest bulbs I've ever seen...they look almost like hids, I've used this set for a year now, and they're 20bucks for a set

I would not recommend the Silver stars... I liked them But one just blew out after having them only about 6 months. And I friend of mine who I suggested that he buys them also had his go out, that was only after 3 months. And they both went out a day apart of each other.
The original bulbs in my 92 lasted for 10 years. I remember replacing them. These only lasted for 6 months... fuck that.
did you clean the silverstar bulbs before installing them? w/ rubbing alcohol? bec even any grease from your fingers on the glass area can decrease their lifespan. my first set of silverstars (9006-unmodded) lasted over 1 yr...about 14-15 months sylvania said the average lifespan is about 1yr, give or take some. the other one was still going strong, but decided to do the 9005 conversion...so both came out.

Mine spent 2 months being DD 100% at night, and have spent a year and a half as my highbeams after I went HID.
I have to say I agree with cman2000. I've never seen one die in real life and I would bet it's user error more than anything. :\
I always clean them with acetone before they go in, but I found one of my projectors had die-electric grease shoved in it for some reason... I had to melt the housing in half to get that crap out.

I think you would all be surprised at how many headlight bulbs I have put in over the past few years.
Most of the lights I put in being the "hyper white" kind. I gave up on the whole "fake hid" bulbs after every one I ever had blew after not that long. The OEM bulbs that I put in my civic after all those hyper white shits blew are still in there today.
So I figured since these silverstars were $20 a bulb, they werent like those other bad ones I have bought for $10 a set. Nope.
And usually if you get grease from your fingers on the bulb, it will blow almost immediatly. Not in 6 months.
