Ok I want a duel cannon muffler setup for my shogun rear ground effects, and I was told I need a Y Pipe setup, but should I stick with the normal camry sized pipes 1 1/4 or should i change it? Whats the pros and cons for changing pipe size? The main reason I ask is because the mufflers i want are using a 1 1/2 inlet so should I find a different muffler or inlarge the pipes going to the mufflers or change the whole size of all the pipes? Help please?

For the 3V engine, which is a 3.0L V6, you should do 2.25" or 2.5" diameter exhaust piping. I don't know where you got 1.25 from. That is way too small even for stock.

As for a y-pipe, you may be thinking about a y-shaped pipe near the rear axle that splits your exhaust into two separate pipes for the two mufflers. You'll need that for sure if you what two mufflers. However, that is a y-pipe per se. A y-pipe connects the two exhaust manifold banks to the exhaust pipe.

The other possiblility is having a TRUE dual exhaust, which runs two separate exhaust pipes off the two exhaust manifold banks.

ok my bad i didnt mean 1.25", but so I can increase the pipe size and thats ok...any increase in performance because of that? Also the true duel dose that have better hp gains then a y pipe setup. How much dose a true duel setup run?

i dont think anyone knows, cause its never been done on a camry before- wanna be the first? lol

im keeping mine at 2.25" (stock) when i get my duals because i dont want to lose backpressure. not only that the mufflers im getting have a 2.25 inlet. after the ypipe/headers/highflow cat gains will start to be noticed. for just a single to dual catback system, you probably wont gain anything and might lose a lot of low end

luckily im in it for the looks right now

Do you guys know any place that sells the dual catback system for Camry or Solara or do we have to take it to some muffler shop to have them fabricate it?

Unless you have V8, don't bother dual exhaust. You will loose so much power..
