Well...I guess I'll fill in again. The keys to a sealed box: 1. correct volume 2. good seal 3. correct wood.

1. Correct Volume: look at the book that came with the subs and check and see what they recommend for internal volume. Do take in mind sometimes that is including or not including displacement for the magnet of the subs.

2. Correct Seal: use lots of screws and lots of silicone sealant. Just get a tube or two of the clear silicone caulk which is made for wood. Use lots of screws, and once its screwed in correctly, lay a nice thick bead of the silicone. Let the silicone harden before you stick your subs in b/c many say the fumes will eat at the sub's surrounds.

3. Correct wood: 3/4ths inch MDF (medium density fiberboard) is the shiz-nit. It's very heavy, and somewhat expensive. However, it will almost never warp or flex, which hinders a sub's output. Don't skimp out and buy particle board...particle board and MDF are two different things. You might be able to go with 1/2 inch MDF if you are not planning to push the subs a whole lot.

There you go....ask away with questions if you have em.

ok so, the recommended seal is 1.25 ft3.the speaker displacement is .09ft3. What does this translate into length width and depth??

Well...I can't give you your numbers guys....you need to figure out what your space requirements are in your trunk. Sorry, not to be mean but break out that measuring tape and at least make some plans....where do you want it located? What is the max width? How deep?...and fool with the numbers until you get the right volume. But this will help. Go to this website and use the volume programs at the top of the page. They are very helpful in tweaking the lengths and widths to get that perfect volume.

Everyone who is thinking they will make their own Enclosures should bookmark this site. It has volume programs which include offsets for wood thickness, ways to calculate port length and width for ported boxes, volumes for tuining....and all kinds of other good stuff. I've used it many times. Good luck!
