Question how to fix the crankshaft?

I am planning to repalce my 98 camry timing belt by myself.
But I am not sure how to keep the crankshaft 100% fixed when we loose the crankshaft pulley bolt. Can anyone give me some advice?
Thanks for your help.

Make a vertical mark to match it back up to when you reinstall the belt. You can buy a grease-pen at staples, or you could use a red marker.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help...

Wedge the flywheel/flexplate with a crowbar.

Theres a access plate on the bottom left side of the tranny that you can remove.

Thats only if your going to reinstall the same belt.

But even then you don't need to make any marks.

Theres alignment marks on the cam gear(s) and crank pulley.

Since when do you need to loosen the crank pulley to swap a belt? There's a tensioner to loosen in order to put the belt on...

^ Thats true for the accessory belts, but not the timing belt.

To get to the timing belt, the timing belt covers need to be removed.

The lower timing belt cover and timing belt will not come off unless you remove the crank pulley.

Sorry, I've only changed the timing belt on diesels. And there is no need to loosen it on them.

My 7.0L could kick your I4's ass!!

Use an impact gun to losen it.
Make sure you don't damage the teeth or bent the flex plate.

Yeah, but it couldn't catch anyone's car while it's mounted to that stand...

Who said anything about "catching" anything?

I said that it kicks your ass. And the fact that the starter puts out more torque then your whole engine kinda proves it. 800ft-lbs takes all!
