UK 1Mz-Fe Supercharger

Hi Guys, for my next project I have decided to supercharge the car. Because the supercharger kit is not available in the UK can anyone tell me, that has one on their car, what the kit consists of and also anything else I might need i.e. vernier pulleys etc. Also to consider I have an ecu from auto camry which is running a manual gearbox so I am assuming it is the manual supercharger kit that I should go for.

The kit is complete. You don't need to get anything in addition to it. It includes the S/C, this massive array of pulleys on this big bracket thing, the belt that replaces the stock accessory belt that is fed into the aforementioned massive array of pulleys, a tensioning arm (which eleminates the need to adjust the belt tension manualy), a number of hoses, a different egr...thingy, bolts, a little black box which taps into your ecu, the connectors and wire taps, and instructions. Oh, and a couple of cool stickers. The only thing you may want to consider getting is a new gasket for the runners.

How is it that you have an ecu from an auto running a manual? This may cause some complications.

If you want more info, do a search, you'll be able to dig up some cool pictures of people's setups.

Thanks will do a search.

In 96 the government brought in legislation where manufacturers had to put security into their cars. When I got my engine I never got the whole donor car, just the engine. This meant I had no security transponder and no way of getting round it using the ecu we had. We managed to track a no-theft deterent ecu in Florida U.S.A. The downside it was an auto ecu. We got around this by putting 25 watt resistors pulled to ground thus fooling the ecu.

See what you mean might be a problem when ordering the kit as to which one to go for.

Get the manual one. The only difference is the EGR tube. The EBC is the same either way, you just wire it differently for manual or for auto. If you wire it for manual, it only cuts boost at the rev limiter. If you wire it for auto, it also cuts boost in first gear and during shifts, which you certainly wouldn't want.

Can you run 5 - 7 psi safely on standard internals? The supercharger will use my next years budget up so I can't afford to upgrade the internals yet!

5.5 PSI is the highest anyone around here recommends on stock internals. Some people have tried 7 PSI, but the knock sensors are very sensitive and tend to blow above 5.5 PSI. Try checking camryman.org or solaraguy.com, there are a few more people running the TRD SC on those boards.

Thanks mobes, think I will stick to the 5.5 psi. Don't want to blow anything yet. I am I right in thinking the supercharger will give me a extra 70bhp.

The stock 4 PSI pulley should give around 70bhp @ 6000 RPM.
Here's a page with some figures: link
There was another one that gave numbers for other boost levels but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Yes, I've learned the lesson the hard and expensive way when I blew the two knock sensors on my 98 Sienna.
