suspention squeaks...

prolly been discussed before, but i've got a sharp squeak sound out of the LF wheel area when i strike bumps, or good dips in the road...can't get it to do it by bouncing the front of the car, so it makes it hard to find...ideas?

Might be the control arm bushings... You could also elaborate on what year your Camry is.

sorry, my bad...it's a 2000, and it doesn't sound like a bushing...it's a sharp metal-to-metal type squeak...really high pitched...

Two guesses-

1. Although your car is only four years old, there's the possibility you have a bad strut mount. This would be one source of teh squeak.

2. Having just been through this myself- Do you have hubcaps? I had Toyota gen3 V6 hubs on my '95 for a while after I upgraded to 15s, and they fit loosely on the rim- so they slipped, and everytime I hit a bump I got a squeak exactly like the one you describe. Got better hubcaps (from an 04, the 10 spoke version) and the squeak was gone. Just another point to consider.

i think i'll look into the strutmount theory a little further...the car has the premium alloy wheels... thanks...
