question on iac cleaning

I have search the forum and it seem like iac is the most common problem in low idle on startup. I have to make sure before I do this. In the other thread, it say to clean it by removing the intake tube, and there would be a small square hole before the throttle plate. I want to know which one is the Idle Control Motor. In my car, I see a white square box with white plug which is located under the throttle body, and a black square box with black plug on the side of the throttle body. It also said that when I removed the connector, the engine light would be on. So I try to do this but I'm confuse and didn't go on with it. I see the small square inside the throttle which is on the bottom right. It seem like the connector that I am suppose to unplug is the white one. When I unplug the white one, the check engine light didn't go on. When i uplug the black one, which is on the side, the check engine go on. So, I'm lost on which one I uplug to clean it.

This is for a 94 Camry LE, v4.

The one under the throttle body is the IAC.

And the other one on the side of the throttle body is the TPS (throttle position sensor).

The check engine light might come on. If it does you can reset it by unplugging the EFI fuse.

Look for the fuse in a fuse box in the engine bay. Fuse box is on the right side of the engine bay behind the battery.

Thanks for the answer, in the beginning, I figure it would be the white box under the throttle body. I'll try cleaning it first to see if it help, if not, I guess I need to replace it. Is it hard to replace it? Do i have to remove the whole throttle body to replace it?

Yes, you need to remove the TB (throttle body) to replace the IAC.

The IAC is held onto the bottom of the TB with a few screws.

Theres also a gasket that you need to replace. It goes in between the IAC and TB.

Check the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor. This is another cause of the cold start low idle problem.

The ECT is on neck that bolts onto the right side of the cylinder head.

I don't think it the ECT sensor. This been happening for more than a year and I never bother it. Most likely, it my IAC because when I rev it, most of the time it idle good. But sometime, I have to rev really high in order to keep it at fast idle when car is cold. Does this sound like my IAC is almost dying? Also, I try cleaning it and it didn't help.
