Im sure you've heard the old saying, speed costs money - how fast do you want to go? If pure performance is your goal, a manual trans would be faster than an automatic. Lighten the car as much as practical, then turn your attention to the engine.

-bore out the engine and put in bigger pistons. The block is probably aluminum so choose well the shop that does it, if aluminum it has sleeved cylinders and to bore out the engine the sleeves are removed and replaced with larger ones to hold the larger pistons.
-Then have the heads ported by a good cylinder head shop to improve the breathing, you might have to replace your headers or at least have the ports ground to match.
-while you are doing all that you might as well balance the engine, a good shop will machine all the pistons to match the lightest one of the six and will balance the crankshaft too.
If you do all these things you will get much more power from the engine. If you do any of this stuff be sure and post back on what it costs you, i'd be interested to know.

Well im not sure if you watn to go that big but it seems like youve taken care of the air system on the engine so now work on the other half of the combustion cycle, the fuel. Id say some new fuel lines and a high flow fuel pump and maybe some new injectors, or even some new performance spark plugs if yourer looking to get every little bit you can.

and then all there is to do is forced induction
