Angry major camry problem!!!

well, here's how it all got started. my 89 camry. 5-speed manual tranny wasn't shifting good and the clutch was going bad so i got another tranny at the junk yard and when i was finished, the car wouldn't start. i've change the whole wiring harness and the disturputer to the sparkplugs. thats what the toyota dealer told me to do and said it would work too. but the car wouldn't still start. any suggestions????

Just a guess but maybe it has something to do with the sensor that detects if the clutch pedal is pushed in.

Are you saying that it wouldnt turn over or it wouldnt start (as in the starter was working but the engine wouldnt catch)? Freak things happen man. If you have a good charge on your battery and the start sounds healthy I would check your fuses. If that doesnt help, pull out one of the spark plugs (still attached to the wire) and see if you are getting spark. It could be your distributor (God forbid). They die for NO reason at all at times. Trust me i know.
Hopefully its a 50 cent fuse.
good luck

okay here are some updates. i did a check engine blinking test, and here are the errors that came up:
24- Open or short circuit in intake air temp. sensor (THA).
31- VC circuit open or VC -E2 short circuit.
51- Air conditioner switch ON, idle switch OFF or shift position other than P or N range during diagnosis check.

does anyone knoe what these errors mean and know how to fix this kind of problem? thnx!!

"51" sounds like a clutch pedal interlock fault translated into from stickshift to automatic lingo,

if the starter doesn't start than you can test to see if it is an interlock problem

You could try to bypass the starter switch:

with the car in N and the wheels blocked:
try to remote start it by using two sets of wires with alligator clips on their ends.

On the first wire, wrap one wire end up in a suitable insulator, and attach the other end to the starter selenoid small +.
On the second wire, wrap one end with an insulator, and attach it to battery + pos.

Using extreme care turn the key to ON, unwrap the ends (make very sure they don't touch the car body) and short them together to activate the starter motor (you can do this in the car), I use this procedure for compression testing. But since remote starting a car can be hazardous research it a little more.
