Knocking/ thumping noise coming from suspension?

I have a gen II ( 1989) camry 4 cylinder, and lately i notice when i take a right turn i will feel and hear a knocking or thumping noise come from the suspension. What could this be? I can feel it through the steering wheel too, it feels like something is loose and is moving around ONLY when i take a right turn. It doesnt happen when i turn left, but will occur randomly if i launch the car hard from a dead stop? On another note, when i am coming to a complete stop slowly i can hear a creaking noise coming from the drivers side area, like the wheel well area. What could be the cause of this? It is going to snow pretty soon here and i want to make sure my car is in good enough condition to drive on snow. thanks

Gen5 Same here...

Im having the same issue so if u know, Please let me know! Mines on the right side. I took a turn and it sounded like a monkey was in the wheel well with a wrench banging on the well. after a few seconds it just stopped.

Make some left and right hand 90-degree turns at slow residential speeds. If you hear a clunking, knocking noise when turning right your left side outer CV joint may be bad. If the noise occurs when turning left, check the right outer CV joint.

If everything is still original then I would check all of the motor mounts and transmission mounts, shock absorbers and steering components for wear or damage.

What the other people said...check: cv drive axles for being worn out. grab the shaft and try to move it up and down, if you feel alot of play, or if boot is torn and grease is gone, change the cv drive axle for a remanuf.
If the cv's are ok, some other problems might be: worn out or even broken ball joints (the lower one gets the most wear), worn out tie rod ends, worn out idler arms. On a car of this vintage, all moving front end parts are probably worn or worn out and need to be checked, by you or a decent shop.
