Unhappy Changing Air Box Filter

Hi Deers .......

I Have 4 Cylinder CAMRY 1996 And I Want To Replace The Air Filter. But I Found One Wire Just Behind The Box Of the Air Filter.
Does Any One Know What Is It ? And Where I Connect It With The New cold Intake filter.

Another Question

Will The Car Consume More Fuel If I Install It? I mean more air inside the engine.

could you be more specific? a wire? not a tube of some sort? where does it lead to? try not to touch any of the electronics. if you are replacing the whole box with a pod or something similar, the most youll see is maybe a slightly better consumption, and a nice throaty intake noise.

you'll get better fuel comsumption when you're not flooring it to hear that great WOT sound.

correct me if im wrong, but thats prolly one of the intake sensors that you're seeing attached to the box?

That wire is a ground wire from the battery. Just leave it.

Could it be the intake air temp sensor?
I installed a POD filter on a 96 Paseo and it had one of these. Looks like a sensor when you remove it. I just put it into the intake tube. Works fine.

Its a IAT (intake air temp) sensor.

Its not a MAF or ground wire. Gen 3 4cyl. use a MAP sensor.

Anyways there should be a hole on your new intake pipe for it. If not just drill a hole for it and reuse the rubber grommet from the stock airbox.

if you're referring to the air sensor on the back out side of the air box... leave it there!!

if you're talking about replacing the air filter... just undo the 2 or 4 latches around the air box, lift it up, pull out the old filter, and put the new one in there... and re latch it all... very simple
