I have a 93 camry 3vzfe and recently bought a stainless magnaflow muffler with a 2.25" single inlet, dual tip outlet (14816). My car's stock muffler has the exhaust pipe going in to the rear side instead of the rear centre as on my magnaflow. The exhaust guys (Midas) are telling me there is no way they can install this muffler since the pipe doesn't come out the side like the stock one . They also say its too short and will not reach the bumper if properly installed with the appropriate hangers.
Has anyone dealt with a muffler like this and got it assembled properly???? They are also telling me a custom pipe would be too difficult since it would not be able to bend through all the underbody parts and possibly have too many restrictive bends. Its seems to me like most camry's of this year have the pipe coming in sideways and I've heard no huge problems with installation. I'd hate to have to return this one since I really love the look and heard great things about the sound.
Please help me guys, I am hoping there is some way I can get this thing on.

How much money are you willing to spend on the project? Remember, money talks.
Originally I wanted to keep the old pipe, as 2.25" stock is not bad for a minor performance upgrades. I would have like to pay under $100 for installation, but a catback project is quite costly.
First thing to do is get out of Midas. they won't install it.
Hangers can be tacked on, so I would just smile at Midas and move on.
Yup, and Magnaflow doesn't make a catback for us.
Shit, I wonder if anyone does anymore..
You need to find a smaller exhaust shop where the guys are willing.
You can try going to the Magnaflow site and getting the address of a local dealer/installer. I bet that would work.
Everyone wants to only install what they sell, so the can stiff it you at MSRP.
Notice once you begin to stray from factory specs it gets harder to get work done?
Well, if you want a performance exhaust system:
1) Buy exhaust headers
2) Buy a High-Flow cat converter
3) Get 2.5" pipe from the cat back
4) Get a straight-through muffler
Yeah, good idea. I'll go searching for a smaller shop that can extend my original pipe. I'm sure they can mount the hangers if they are willing to go beyond the norm...
Your list is good userlain, but I've yet to find a company that makes exhaust headers for the 3vzfe. Custom would be crazy expensive. So, my question is still, if I just had a thicker catback pipe would it make a difference worth paying for? I am planning to do the high flow cat later...
Forget headers. They'd be custom and cost way too much.
For the same cost as headers you could get a nice muffler and new piping from the stock collectors back.
Muffler, Cat, Y-pipe, narrow pipes. Kill all that stock crap off and you'll get some great gains out of that thing.
I say go to the opposite end. Do the Y-pipe first, then kill the cat and do the rest of it. Or you could just get someone to weld you up a 2.5" cat back, then drop the cat and do the Y later. Biggest gain is going to be getting the y-pipe off your car.

Lots of 3VZ-FE owners are looking for what you list. Headers are something almost every 3VZ owner here has posted about. It's just not out there.
This stock exhaust system is the shittiest I have ever seen, I wanted to tear it it out when I saw it the first time. From the shit headers all the way to the tail. More clogs than a busfull of dutchmen. Next time you see a gen3 V6 running, walk by and feel whats coming out the tail pipe. Nada. Warm breeze at best.
Bosal used to make one but not anymore. If you got the inside, turn us on.
