Starter NEEDS How Many Volts?

how many volts does the starter on a 1mz REALLY need?
I specifically posted this in the camry section as the starter for a 4cyl and 6cyl and specific starter/engine combos will need different amounts of power

when engine's off, should be about 12v, with engine on at idle, around 13v, and with the car running, a max of probably around 15v

now if I'm running electronics inside my car, and I keep an eye on the voltage of the battery with a(n) (accurate) voltmeter, how far can I let the charge drop and still be able to start the car?

I don't think anybody's ever asked this question, so let's hear some answers!

I think it's more of an amperage thing... of course with a lower voltage the starter would turn slower. At any rate that is why automotive batteries are rated with CCA or Cold Cranking Amps.

I've start my 5S-FE with as low as 10V.
Yea its about current flow. Voltage indicate how long the battery can supply the current. As long as it got enough to start the car. Also another thing is spark. With the starter taking all the juice, you'll left with no spark. A MSD box will help cause it work down to 8V.
Yellow top and MSD start my Corolla all the time.

you need around 30-40 Amps per cylinder for the starter volts doesn't really matter.
