Headers

Can someone clarify for me what Headers do ? My friend is thinking of replacing his headers, but I thought they only will have any performance effect if you are adding a turbo or supercharger too.

So what can he expect by just replacing the headers ?? what will it do for him ?

Well,
Headers are the pipes that connects exhaust manifolds of the engine to the catalytic converter... Replacing headers don't do much unless you replace entire exhaust system such as hiflow catalytic converter and performance muffler... Even with this there is a drawback because you loose the back pressure... Only good thing is that you get louder exhaust noise. Obviously if you put in turbo, you need a new header or modify the factory one... I hope this helps.
