Wayfinder V2020 aftermarket outside temp unit?

Is anyone familiar with this Wayfinder V2020 aftermarket outside temperature control unit:

www.pnicorp.com/productDetail?nodeld=V2020

If so, where and how did you install the sensor? How does it work?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Mike

You can install the sensor anywhere that is exposed to the air outside of the car/engine bay.

I had a air temp unit once. I placed the sensor in the area between the front part of the door and the fender. That's where the unit specified it should be placed. Don't think the readings where that accurate though, it was off by about 5 degrees or so.

I had a Wayfinder that did temp, compass, and altitude. It was stolen along with my stereo though.

I had the sensor behind the ds headlight where fresh air comes in. It was fairly accurate there.

Thanks everybody for their input.

Colorado, that's the unit I'm talking about. How did you attach the sensor behind the headlight? Did you use their sticky tape and velcrow set-up, or their wires ties or did you fabricate some kind of bracket to attach it to and bolt it down securely?

I just tied it in a knot around one of the headlight aiming brackets. I mounted the unit in my get 3 by removing the suction cups and bolting it to the cubby under the stereo. That was pretty slick.

Colorado,

Thanks for the quick answer. I couldn't put the the main unit under the radio in my generation 3; I have the 3 disc CD changer there. I'm thinking of just using the suction cups on the window. I'm also thinking of getting one for by gen 4.

If you still have the main unit, you can get a replacement sensor for around $29 plus shipping, but you probably had the main unit stolen. Just go to pnicorp.com. Incidently, if you want to replace the whole unit, around here Costco is selling them for $59.

Thanks again.

Mike
