Hi,
I used to have 225/40/18 rims and tires. I like the handling and feeling pretty much, but the rough ride was not my style. I am planning to change the size to 225/60/16 because I have heard that the wider profile gives more comfortable ride. What is your opinions? How is it going to be different? What sizes would you recommend? I have 2002 Solara.

Thank you.

It doesn't really matter for Solaras..
If you have souped up V8 then you want more tire contact surface with the road so it grips better.. But with Solara it probably creates more drag with wider tires, which will decrease your gas milage... So simply put, if you want Cadillac ride, go back to your original tires... 225 is OK I suppose... If you live in snowy area, thinner the better!! Thinner tires dig into snow better thus better traction. I used to have 275 40ZR18 on my Mustang rear, and it would pretty much float on top of snow...

Personally, so what if ride quality suffers? It looks 100% better and handles 150% better! Why would you go back? I guess I just don't understand... Riding my Mustang was like riding a skateboard.. I felt every bump on the road... and I loved it.. It made me feel like riding a real race car..

Go to http://www.tirerack.com and hit up their informative and educational pages on choosing a tire size. Learn what overall diameter means and how to calculate it. Learn how to read the number on the tires.

225-60-16 is definitely WRONG.
