On my last trip to my local audio supplier I couldn't help but notice that they did not carry any JL audio products at all. No subs, amps, nothing. I asked the owner why and he told me that JL is total crap!! He claims that he's had so many problems in the past that he wont even carry or order anything from them! He says once you put the real power to JL subs, there gonna blow. He recommends almost anything over JL and warned me never to by from them. He is actually pretty reputable, he's won a few spl contests and has the pics and trophys to prove it! I just want to know you guys take on it, I always thought JL was the best?

I wouldn't say they're THE BEST but they're certainly not bad.

Just see how many people here are using JL, there's got to be at least 5 of us...

Well, as everyone knows I am about as biased as any when it comes to JL. However, let me tell you something about the audio business....if a shop isn't selling a brand, it is automatically crap....just for the sole fact they don't sell them and thus would rather convince you to purchase something out of their shop. Sure, you can buy other brands, and there are a ton of good products out there....but all JL subs not being able to take power...come on. Let's take...hum....me for example  And hell, if you blow them, take 'em back. I think he got his license taken away and is mad. Oh well, I say go out, listen to a bunch of subs....maybe some in friend's cars, and go with your gut.

There should be a hole covered by a grommet right inside the driver's side fender (you'll have to remove the inner black fender cover) facing towards the interior. Cut up the grommet and feed the wire there, you should be able to find it inside the interior underneath the panels (you pretty much have to remove all the panel) under the driver's side fuse box.

Maybe Henry could write better instructions.

Personally, I am a fan of JL. I used JL 10 W6 (v1's) for about 2 years in a custom box. Unbelievable sound and crisp bass.

As for this guy, I agree with tmanana. He probably just wants you to buy something from his store and since he doesnt sell JL, he's gonna bash them to the ground to make you believe that his products are better.

All in all, don't go by what anyone tells u in regards to car audio. It's completely your decision what to spend your money on. The best way to find out what is best for you is to LISTEN TO IT !!!! Now I have 3 Rockford 10" HE2 subs in a sealed box, and it is unbelievable... blows my old JL's out of the water...

Oh...btw....if you are running anything lower than 8 gauge power wire I say go ahead and drill a hole on the driver's side. It will save you some searching and will allow for the closest point of entry, thus keeping your power wire's length to a min. Do make sure you add a rubber grommet so that the wire does not get cut, over time, by the metal. That would be bad

JL W7's, the new ones with the uber-fat surrounds on them, are some of the nicest sounding subs I've heard, period. I, however, am biased towards Infinity Perfects, but that's because the rest of my speakers are Perfects, and it is designed to all match up to one system. Audiobhan is by far one of my favorite companies, and I really challenge you to push their subs beyond their limit. I had an Audiobahn AW1000x 10" High-Excursion sub, and it was a lot like a retarded puppy.... it took lots of abuse and kept coming back for more, stronger abuse. I regret selling it. That sunnuvabitch took over 650W RMS, and was pushed routinely to over 1400W peak. If that isn't a glutton for punishment, I don't know what is...

I also wanted to say one thing about the power handling issue....JL Subs ALWAYS handle a lot more than they are slated to handle, especially in sealed boxes.

I talked with J.Sayen and we had a discussion on this, they test their woofers in free-air environments, and base their ratings off that.

I personally have given a pair of two JLw3's sealed over a 1000 watts of clean power.

Oh you mean in the trunk... oops.

You'll find places to route the wire once you remove the rear seats. I think the spots are quite obvious and I did it without any instructions.

I know exactly why the shop owner told you that. I have ties to JL reps and he told me that JL pulled a lot of reseller licenses. This is due to low sales on their part and them violating JL policies. I bet you that is why he is pissed about JL.

I agree with tmanna, JL has the best service I have had to deal with. They sent me a brand new JL 12" W6 after I blew one.

Besides does this look like a low quality product? The frame is made from really thick diecast aluminum alloy!
