I recently changed mine and it was not hard at all. Well I have a '93 cam don't knwo how much diff it would be. It's basically taker it out put it in and make sure u'r belt has the correct tension. You can also take a look at this: http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBr...3d8013e1cd.jsp

Thanks for the link but for some reason its not working when I try to change it to the 99 model. I'll just have to keep trying later. The bolts look easy but I am worried about the belt. I've never messed with belts before and was wondering if anyone has some advice/ tips.

I've never messed with them either before, but i took my chances and it came out good. If it's too tight you'll know cause it'll squeek. I don't think that they'll give you different instructions for a '99 because some of their info is just standard info they give.

Is it a serpentine belt ?? They are simple if you have the proper tool. Just be sure to make a drawing of its routing.

Belts are nothing. They look all scary and complex until you realize its just a belt. You need to do this:
1. Disconnect vehicle battery.
2. Unplug wires going into alternator.
3. tape ends to prevent shorting out anything.
4. use a socket and ratchet to relieve belt tension.
5. use small breaker bar and socket to undo hinge bolt and remove.
6. unbolt alternator tensioning bolt.
7. remove alternator and reverse steps with new alternator.
8. When tensioning the belt use two rulers and get the specs off haynes repair manual. Or just tighten it until it feels right and doesn't flop around or slip.

Thats all that I can think of.
