Cylinder head interchange

I have a 1992 Camry with the 5S-FE engine that needs a cylinder head replacement. I bought a head from a wrecking yard and they told me it was for the 5S-FE but after I got it and measured the cam lobes I determined that it was for a 3S-FE.

I called the wrecking yard and they claim that the head castings are the same even if the cams are different. I measured the length of the valves and they are different so it looks like if the castings are the same I could use all of the parts (valves, springs, keepers, cams, etc.) from the bad head. Of course I would grind the valves and seats.

Does anybody know if the head castings are the same?

I think that question is a little out of this boards league, minus a few people. Ask how to put in altezzas or neon lights and you'll get tons of replies.

My educated guess would be no. As I recall the "3" and "5" in the engine codes stand for the series of the head. So since those arent the same number, my guess would be that it wont work. But I am not sure if the casting would be the same, and the internals different. Or switched.
