I currently have a set of Axis - Lenso VPD RIMS - 17"/ 7" (Gunmetal) for my 1992 Toyota Camry.
The information for them is as follows:
The Factory Bolt Pattern - 5 x 114.3
Hub - 60.1
Offset - High
Lug - 12 x 1.5
Tires - 215/45 R17
I'm wondering is I can put 225/45 R17 tires on the same rims. If I can, I'm wondering if I'm going to have any problems with the 225/45 R17 tires on my car. (Will they rub, etc...)
Any help with this question would be greatly appreciated.
they fit fine on the car, thats what i have.... except i have a 7.5 wide rim... you should call your local performance tire shop and ask them if a 225 is ok for a 7 inch wide rim... you MIGHT want to just stick with the 215...
you need to fit the tire to the rim before you fit it to the car... in this case, either will fit fine for the car, just worry about the width of the rim..
Ummm... 225 = WIDER than 215 rather than TALLER. I know maintaining the 45 will mean a slight difference in the sidewall height, but it'll probably be only enough to throw off the speedo.

actually bro, its both... the first number is the width, but the second is a ratio... its dependant on width... so if you have 225/45, its going to be wider AND taller than a 215/45
Okay,
so I talked with a guy at Axis (http://www.axiswheels.com/) and he said that the 225/45 17s will fit on the 7" VPDs. I see that E.8.P. says they fit on his car with no rubbing. SO, does anyone else have 225/45 17s on their car? And if so, are they on 7" rims or 7.5" rims. As far as the speedo goes, check this site out: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Based on a stock tire size of 195/70 14 and a new tire size of 225/45 17 when my speedo reads 60mph I will actually be traveling 60.5mph. No big deal. ;-)
All of you guys seem very knowledgable in car rims compatibility. I just bought a 03 Camry LE and never was able to find out what the wheels offset was for the car. Hoping that someone here can answer this question that I have asked many about.
I have an offer to purchase and the specification follows: Diameter is 17", Width is 6 1/2, Offset is 55mm, Bolt pattern is 5x114.
So the question is will the Camry with Offset of +50mm fit rims for the following specifications: Diameter is 17", Width is 6 1/2, Offset is 55mm, Bolt pattern is 5x114.
If you want to find out the substutits tire for your rim so it will have the same or very close to the actual spdo and miles run, go to 1010tires.com. click on the tire size calculator and you can play with it and come up with the right tire.
My 205/60R16 can be replaced by 225/55R16 so at 60mph on my old tires I will be going 59.8mph with the new.
