Alright,
My Mustang was automatic..(I know..I know..sucked)
Obviously manually shift (1 to 2 then D)... If you race from the stop light, put the gear in 1st, then do the break stand(push break and push gas at the same time). You do this to rev up your engine to about 2000 to 2500 rpm.. Your front wheels may turn or may not.. It doesn't matter as long as you are not moving and the rpm is at 2000 to 2500 rpm. This will give you a good launch and obviously engine will hit the max hp quicker. Yeah it does put some stress to your engine and break but hey if you want to baby your car why race? right?
Make sure you know where the rev limiter is... If you don't then practice manually shifting your auto tranny. If you shift too early you will lose trust me.. If you shift too late your rev limiter will cut the throttle off...
If you race while going about 10 to 15 mph.. Make sure your gear is in 1st.
good luck..
