USA lighting

ok i'm trying to buy some leds for my lighting and i got a couple questions

1. Is a 2825 bulb the same as a 194 or a t10 bulb?
2. How do i get that grey piece off that covers the map lights? i almost broke my fingers trying to get it off.
3. Any suggestions on how to get to the license plate bulbs?

i could probably help with #3, i have no idea about #1 or #2 though

to get to the licence plate bulbs you need to remove the boot/trunk trim. just pull out some of those plastic pegs/screws out using a pair of plyers. as long as you put them straight out they shouldnt break . you can either remove the whole trim piece or just bend it enough to change the bulbs

good luck with everything

A # 168 bulb is brigter than # 194 bulb and the #2825 bulb is the brightest. They are all the same (virtually) physical size.

The 03+ Corollas started using 168s for license plate lights (all before were 194) The #2825 is used as the license plate lights on the New Beetles.

2. map light cover. not sure for your 2002, but for my 2000, i used a flat-head screwdriver, and slowly pryed the cover off. with a little force, it popped out. and to put it back was as easy too. hope it's the same for your Gen 5. good luck

ouch my fingers hurt.....i tried pulling the lil plastic screws things off with a flathead but they just wouldn't come off.......do i twist them or something?

My map lights piece sounds like it's cracking when i pull it out......man. the car manual says to get a toyota dealer to do it if they go out. that sucks.

you will also need some plyers aswell to help get them off

use the flathead to put it out a tiny little bit, then stick the plyers inbetween (into that gap you just made) and then pull it out that way

it should come out pretty smoothly.....
if you use the plyers as a lever, instead of trying to pull the screw out with force, it should come out no problem , if it is hard, your doing it wrong

in the pic i did below, just push the plyers up at the end, and then the screw should come out straight, so thus it shouldnt break....
