Cabin Filter!!

Havnt changed it till now on my 2002 camry and when I took it out, it was all black and dirty!!!!
I even would like to change it every 6 months if it were cheap. Any online place to find a cheap ones?? I paid about $35 and change it myself. Dealer asked about $52 to get it changed. Is there any other service they perform as well? Thanks in advance!! -Ric

Not sure if Gen 3's have them, if they do, it's most likely behind the glove-box.

Cool

No, gen3 camries do not have cabin air filters.
Yes, they can accept a cabin air filter.

The spot for the air filter is located near the heater core, and accessed directly beside the gas pedal.

DO NOT buy the Toyota/Lexus filter that goes in the slot. Even with a hookup you won't aquire one for under $40. Go somewhere and buy whatever house panel filter you want and cut it to fit. Remember, the more the filter filters out, the less air blows through the vents.

I suggest just putting a normal $1 white filter there, with one of the smell good filter packs attached to it.

(pics 2 come i gotta find them)

Cool

I did mine over a year ago? I can't remember.
I will tell you that you must be careful because you have to pull your carpet out some. It is glued down near the center console. You don't want to fold/tear it. Otherwise it's pretty much plug & play.

btw what I ment by gen3 camries don't have the filter. The slot was in the car during the gen3 Camry/gen 1 ES 300 introduction in '92. However @ ClubLexus we found no pre '96 model ES-300 had anything installed.

So I doubt there will be a single gen3 Camry found with the $40 filter installed. (could have been one of the "secrit" dealer options not advertised anywhere)

Follow up...

Well...it was plain white filter that fits into black frame. This filter (on '02 camry LE 4 cyl 2.4 L) is located behind glove box. The toyota manual that comes with car has good instructions on how to change it, meaning its strickly diy item. Its very simple. The scheduled maintanance book recommmends it to change evry year or 15k miles whatever happens first. Here is a filter part descriptions, picture is not correct though.

I am still looking for better price and guess otherwise i will have to learn how to clean it
